Following the delivery of final specifications and first host controller samples, it appears that the SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus standard, better known as USB 3.0, is about ready for a commercial rollout.
I hope it will come out as PCI Express card too 'cause I don't want to change my m'board nowadays.
Do U think if i connect a USB2.0 HDD to the USB3.0 port it will be faster? Or both device has to be 3.0?

From what I read both have to be 3.0 (Gotta make money by making you re-buy everything) but 3.0 is still backward compatible so you can plug it in to a 3.0 port and it will work plus the plugs are different. The only plus I can think of is the 3.0 might be a little better at handling the legacy devices.

The speed of the controller is 400 Mbps, but the speed of devices are a whole different story. Speaking of which, 70 MBps is faster than the current USB 2.0 standard Very few USB sticks hit 20 MBps, most are in the lower numbers. Similarly even if the guys External Hard Drive above was USB 3.0, more than likely he wouldn't have a noticeable performance increase due to the fact that most hard drives don't exceed the current USB 2.0 speeds.
Don't get me wrong, I want them to I think this is an awesome improvement, especially the possibility of power increase, I love the idea of USB devices not needing external power.

USB 3.0 is supposed to go to manufacturers in August from the last word I heard on it. When article there points to the introduction in late 2009 and Q1 2010 that's not a big surprize and fits right into the time frame seen on the initial reports in late 2008.
7 already includes or will include when finished support for this. The present usb devices will be left out of the look on this however not being 3.0 devices to start with. To see those speeds you will need 3.0 standards built in already just like you can't push a 1.1 device upto 2.0 standards there.
