USB 3.0 HUB speed problem

I just purchased a Ultra Aluminous 4 port USB 3.0 Hub.

My computer has been relocated and it is now very difficult to get at my 3.0 ports on the back of the machine so I thought this would make life easy.:sarc:

My latest Renesas USB 3.0 driver software sees the new hub as USB 2.0 and installs that driver. I have 2 USB 3.0 drives that work fine if plugged directly into the back ports, but if I plug them into my new hub I get a message telling me they can go faster.

Is there a way to manually install the USB 3.0 hub driver? I believe the Renesas driver package includes it. I tried using device manager manual install but it does not list Renesas drivers when it lists all available drivers.

I have tried removing and re-installing the latest driver software with no luck.

If this is not a self-powered hub, there may be a problem with the devices starving from power.

Have you looked at the manual or visited the manufacturer's website to see what they have to say about your issue. That might help. Also as whs hinted, if the item came with a power cord, is it hooked up?

I have the hub plugged in to a live outlet.

No manual came with it, but I will do some digging around on the company website.

I searched Ultra's website and had no luck. I also did several web searches and came up empty.

But as things are it definitely looks like a driver problem. I would call the company and ask them what they suggest.

Out of curiosity are you using the same cables? Are the cables USB 3.0 compliant?

I am using the supplied cable, which is USB 3.0 compliant.

is your hub is plugged into the USB 3.0 ports on the back?
If not and you've plugged the hub into one of the USB 2.0 ports, then the hub will operate at 2.0 speeds.

I have also updated to the latest driver and firmware that I can find.

Have you turned off the PC with the HUB on
and allowed Windows 7 to re-initialize after start-up?

I called Ultra tech support and they told me I had done everything they could think of and to just return it. I am hoping someone on this site will think of something I have missed. If not, by Wednesday, I will look into returning it.

Honestly looking through the post it looks like you've done everything you should have done. And if tech support can't give you any other advice, than yeah, return it.

Actually there is one question? Is you motherboard 3.0 compliant? You mention the renesis drivers so I assume it is, but I have to ask.... just in case.

Actually I just Googled it and it appears it is.

As long as you've plugged the hub into the Blue ports, then you've done all you can do.

Hello sorry for my bad english.

You can try in win 7 32 bits and works ok. In 64 bits there are a problem a don´t work at 3.0 velocity.
Just belive me, i tried this in a second partition with 32 bits and works fine.

Thanks. I only have 64 bit installed but at least it gives me something to go on.
