Solved USB Bug Code BSOD

As the title says, the error code I receive from the BSOD is called USB_BUG_CODE (as far as I remember). It has recently been happening to my laptop. Anytime I plug something into any of my four USB slots, eventually a BSOD will occur. At first it happened randomly, in the middle of a game of League of Legends. However, it now occurs anytime I plug in a USB device. It seems erratic, but earlier today I figured it would only happen if the USB device was plugged in and I closed my laptop. Instead of sleeping like normal, it would instead BSOD.

I have attached the SF Diagnostic Tool file. Let me know if there is anymore info required of me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi MoeElf.

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
Now, what is this??? Any idea?
Code:
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\semav6thermal64ro.sys
Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

Update the following:

Ok, so I uninstalled Daemon tools and found the uninstall button grayed out.

I also uninstalled Intel rapid storage. However, I did not find any Intel items under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Only a Standard AHCI 1.0 ATA Controller. (Recently, ATA Channel 0 and ATA Channel 3 have been added).

I do not know what the file "semav6thermal64ro.sys" is. A quick Google search does not result in much besides it being "Safe". However, I'm unsure of how reliable this judgement is. After a quick scan, Windows Defender says there is nothing wrong with the computer.

I've updated the Alps Touch pad as well as the RealTek Card Reader. However, I'm a bit confused as to how to update the Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. I've downloaded the file, but there doesn't seem to be a setup of sorts, only .sys, .inf, and .cat files. Also, does the chipset update have to be for my specific laptop model?

I'll keep you updated.

Edit: So far, so good. Closed the laptop and it went to sleep normally, even with something plugged into the USB.

Alright, sorry to bother you again, but my computer just had a BSOD. I'm attaching the driverview and SF diagnostic compressed files now.

A USB device is plugged in. I should also mention that my laptop fan was making unusually large amounts of noise just prior to the BSOD.

Thank you in advance.

Nothing is available as the reason of the BSOD :(

Which USB devices were connected when the BSOD took place? Epson printer? Logitech Keyboard? Phones?

Also, can you uninstall Atheros USB boot ROM?

My Logitech mouse and keyboard (MK320) are plugged in. They are a year old, I'm not sure if that's old or not.

I could not locate an "Atheros USB boot ROM" only the Atheros Wifi Installation.

Ok, I wanted to give it some time before marking it as solved, but I think everything is good to go. I now unplug my USB devices before closing the lid and that seems to help. A day after your latest reply an error message would pop up saying the USB device/slot has failed and I would respond by moving it to a different USB slot. It did this for each slot eventually (over the span of a day) but I just kept switching which would prompt the computer to re-install the device's software. When I ran out of slots, I went back to the first one and ever since then it has been fine.

Thank you very much for all of your help, Arc.
