This has happened a few times now. When using Bluetooth, or a USB to Serial adapter, It will work for a bit, then just stop. Any USB devices already in place remain working, but new devices aren't even detected. Unplug and replug a working device, and that stops working too. Any ideas?

Hemingway,

Welcome to SevenForums.

Besides the excellent advice you've already received, go to the website for the mfg and update your bios if yours isn't the latest.

Welcome!

I suggest updating your chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's site.

Better off getting them directly from ATI/AMD. No idea which 785G board Hemingray has, but I went to Gigabyte's site and picked a random 785G based board. I thought Asus was lax for updating their download page, the chipset drivers from Gigabyte are almost a year old. Not too bad I guess seeing as ATI/AMD updates them almost monthly (say almost as they are included in the full Catalyst suite every month, but usually the chipset drivers get updated every two months).

That said go here,

Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

click on "Motherboard/Integrated Video Drivers", then under "Individual Drivers" select your flavor of Windows, and you want the South Bridge driver. You can also grab either the RAID or AHCI driver if you have your drives set up to use them (these are an either/or, not both).
