USB Device not recognised

I have a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium and a new laptop with the same o/s.
I have a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 and an old Canon camera.
According to Panasonic the driver for their camera is incorporated in 7. I tried the canon and there was no problem downloading.
The Lumix down loads perfectly on the laptop without any drivers being added.

When I try to download the Lumix to the computer all I get is
"one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it"
When I check the message it says "Unknown device. (check connections) If windows still does not recognise it replace the device"

Why does it work with the laptop and not the computer? Panasonic are no help once I said it worked on the laptop.

Is there an easy answer?

Hello Colin,

Try moving it to another port on your desktop. Perhaps the USB port is malfunctioning.

Just a thought, may or may not work.

I tried that and it did not make any difference also the Canon worked ok with the same port.

All I can say is that yor drivers are not working. I am not familiar with cameras or that software, so I can't give you specific instructions.
