I bought Kingston DataTraveler 16bg G3. I do get BSOD immediately after plugging it in. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? yes
- an OEM or full retail version? OEM
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 1 year
- What is the age of OS installation
(have you re-installed the OS?) haven't re-installed

Related to PDFsFilter.sys PerfectDisk OptiWrite Filter Driver for Server from Raxco Software, Inc.

ALSO of note

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware:

MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM (MagicDisc) in its place

Using MagicISO to create ISO image files

Removing Perfect Disk did fix the problem. I've been using daemon tools for ages and I refuse to replace it. But I'll consider that if I ever again get BSOD. Thanks again!

Deamon tools is often (but not always) a cause. I use it myself.

If you dont crash keep it, I would

Good luck and when you are satisfied you are working have the thread marked solved.

OMG! Got my computer September 2011 and shortly after installed PerfectDisk Free Defrag. Have been fighting this problem since. Uninstalling USB drivers, searching forums, etc. Just didn't see this post until now!

8GB SanDisk Cruzer and 8GB Kingston USB Drives caused instant BSOD.
512MB SanDisk was OK.

External USB hard drives not recognized, external SATA hard drives OK.

Other USB devices were OK, such as iPod Touch.

Uninstalled CNET 5 star rated PerfectDisk Free Defrag and all problems gone.

Posting just to give a BIG Thank You! (and maybe someone else benefiting from this post).
