USB Drive keeps disconnecting

I have a very weird problem with my Windows Ultimate x32. When I connect an USB flash drive to any USB port on the system the autoplay menu pops ups, and the it disconnects and connects again and again.i am using Asus X80L.but my other usb drives like external hard disk,modem are running good on my laptop.
and the error says: Error 0x80070022.The wrong diskette is in the drive.

Note what it says about hardware detection service. Try both AutoPlay enabled and disabled. See if it stabilizes.

Is this pendrive working fine on another machine? If so copy all files from pendrive to a folder and format pendrive. Now you can copy the files back. Just perform a drag and drop

So the usb pendrive is damaged (either data or hardware)
Are you able to see the drive in "command prompt"? Try to move the data to your harddisk. I assume the dirve is H:

do you see any files?

Maybe you can recover some files using diskrecovery software (don't no which one). After that repartition and refornat the pendrive. But be carefull... maybe the pendrive has died

Are the contacts clean?
Does anything change if you wiggle the USB stick inside the port or (gently) push it in various directions?

hi all

have you tried to uninstall the driver in device manager while the pen drive is connected. pull out thumb drive. then re-boot pc and reconnect the thumb drive? also alternate the connection to different usb ports?

Used different ports and machine.nothing changed.Still there are my docu's.but i can not open them. but if im not going to open them then the pendrive stays but when im going ro play/open thaem pendrive GONE....man...im going to be mad.someone help me...

just google for "recover files from usb stick". Or first open a "command prompt" and do:
DIR H:

replace H with driveleter of usb pendrive

Disconnecting a device

Most USB devices can be removed and unplugged. When unplugging storage devices, such as USB flash drives, make sure that the computer has finished saving any information to the device before removing it. If the device has an activity light, wait for a few seconds after the light has finished flashing before unplugging it.

If you see the Safely Remove Hardware icon

in the notification area on the right side of the taskbar, you can use this as an indication that devices have finished all operations in progress and are ready to be removed. Click the icon and you'll see a list of devices. Click the device that you want to remove. Windows will display a notification telling you it's safe to remove the device.

Note

You can also safely remove devices from the Computer folder. Click the Start button

I had similar problem myself, back in Uni.
What I did: I have inserted my pendrive into USB slot, and held it with my hands so that OS sees it, my mate then made copy of docs from pen to desktop.
I believe your dirve is damaged, try this trick... Good luck...

If you're getting the Autoplay menu, see if the stick shows up in Computer.

If so rightclick on it to open Properties>Tools and run Disk Check with both repair option boxes checked
to see if it will repair it.

Kaktussoft,i did command prompt and it says:
Volume in drive C has no label
file not Found.

What does that mean?i did chkdisk by CMD and dat command shows that.i have all my files but can not do anything with them.

If chkdsk /R does not run to completion or help you, the only thing I can think of is something like Recuva or GetDataBack. I don't know if those 2 applications work on USB drives.

Otherwise, you may need a professional data recovery service and that would cost hundreds of dollars.

I tried to use data recovery but my pen drive does not stay stable.it connect and reconnect by itself .
