USB Driver Code 39

For some reason I can't access my card reader or external hard drive. Device Manager says that the drivers are "corrupted or missing (Code 39)". I tried uninstalling then rebooting, but the drivers failed to install. What do I do?

Have you tried running any Hitachi utilities and see what happens?

The drive is in a USB enclosure, and I don't have a floppy drive or anything like that to run DFT. I did hear about deleting the Upper/LowerFilters key from here, and I'm going to try that if FixIt doesn't work.

Edit: Neither FixIt nor sfc /scannow did anything, so I'm going to try the Upper/LowerFilters key deletion.

Edit 2: So deleting the key means that the Memory Stick reader part of the card reader works now, but the external hard drive, CompactFlash, SD and SmartMedia readers show up in Device Manager as "Other Devices". Asking Device Manager to update the drivers for the Other Devices means that they now show up in Explorer without any problems. I think this is solved for now.
