USB drivers error, possible virus?

ITried to log into my computer today and all of my USB drivers aren't working. My mouse is USB as is my wifi card, which makes it very difficult to resolve this problem. exactly my computer flash is regularly between applications, which makes me think this is a virus. in the devices and found that none of the drivers are working for the USB. so I uninstalled all of them and restarted, but it didn't just fix itself.

I'm waiting to finish a system restore, though I'm not convinced it will work.

What is causing this, how do I fix it, and how do I prevent it in the future?

Update: The restore worked, the USB's worked, but then I restarted the computer and it installed a windows update and now I'm stuck at the "starting windows" screen during boot up...actually it's startup repair (claims windows is loading files then jumps to the next screen and says "c Microsoft corporation" and a green progress bar which is frozen...

Alright, now I'm really frustrated.

I reset the bios to factory default.
Then I cleaned all the dust out of everything, especially the heat sink and the graphics card fan.

Now I flip on the power switch and it sounds like everything is getting power.
Then I press the power button and it sounds like a normal power up...
Except my monitor isn't getting anything. but a black screen...

Here's my dilema: If it's the graphics card, there isn't an onboard graphics card on my mobo, so I can't boot up the system...

I also don't have access to another desktop PC to test all of my parts in. (who uses desktop PCs these days besides me?)

Anyone have any ideas I could try?


Also, could someone move this thread to the appropriate section...I realize now that it's not a drivers issue...
