Hello guys
I recently ran into a very weird windows 7 bit problem after installing it on my desktop. I cannot copy large files/ holders into usb flash drive or write large files to cd/ dvd. The copying/ moving process would stay on for about 5-10 seconds then freezes then I get an error message. That is:
H: refers to a location that is unavailable. it could be on a hard drive on this computer...
I have all the latest drivers.
And windows/ nero 9 can't use my dvd drive to burn files.
Some info about my system: AMD X4 630 CPU. MSI KA780G (AMD 780G chipset) mobo. I have 2 sata hdds, non raid mode. The DVD drive is IDE. 4gb ram ddr2 ram. windows 7 64 bit.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well you can look for critical errors in Event Viewer, and Google repeat errors to try to troubleshoot.

Run sfc /scannow to check system files.

Click through your WEI score link in Computer>Properties to Advanced Tools and check Performance Logs, Generate a System Health Report.

If you've sent a report to MS, type problems in start box and view Solutions.

The last step before Clean Reinstall is http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

i've installed it so many times, problem still exists. when i install on my two laptops, the problem doesn't occur.
edit: doing sfc /scannow as we speak

Test your memory with Windows Memory Diagnostics. Then burn to CD Memtest86 and stress test memory overnight, or at least 6 passes.

Fill in your system specs in link at bottom left of your post to get more help.

Find your HD diagostics on the Support Downloads page for your model HD. Burn to CD and do full scan.

What drive is actually Drive H in explorer?
have you tried changing the Drive letters?

Just a thought:
This error can occur if you change a drive letter (such as changing the DVD Drive From E to F for example) and the burning app still thinks its at the old location.

It can also happen if your trying to copy a folder with a shortcut inside (for example pointing to Drive H) that does not exist in the current configuration. therefore the OS does not know where to find it and generates that error.

This is likely a hardware problem with all of your reinstalls not helping.

But if you do another reinstall, this time wipe the HD with DBAN.

lol whatever it is how could i fix it :(, there's gotta be a way. memory test is going, fine so far. also a note: after the error message pops up, the flash drive still shows up in my computer, however i'm unable to access it. windows is also unable to display free/ used space of the flash drive.

What you describe sounds like an Explorer problem similar to bugs we had in early betas.

But since it doesn't happen with your same installer on laptop then it is not installer.

And with all the reinstalls it is not the OS.

So it sounds like hardware or an app problem.

If it was just flash, it would be suspect, but it happens copying to disk, too?

Any other ideas out there?

You can shrink partition in Disk Management, install 32 bit in that space to test it on a dual boot for awhile.

When you decide, we can help you remove the other.

will do that when i have sometime tomorrow

Remember you need to boot the 32 bit installer, won't run from your Win7.
