usb hdd help

hi all sorry if there is a post already up about this

recently i was given a dell vostro 200 by a friend that he bought from a shop that was closing down..

now im not amazing at computers but this computer is causing me much stress. the computer was bought from an internet cafe that is now bust. it has this program on it called net client and it wont let me log in normally.. so i tried going in through safe mode to delete this program but every time i restarted it i would be back to square one. i think its due to the partition on the drive. ive even tried unlocking the admin account through command prompt and as soon as i log off im back to the same place... it wont even let me install 7 over the top

i got an adapter today so that im able to use the hard drive out of the computer as a usb drive. but when it installs i can only view the properties of the drive not the content. is there any program or prosess i can do to erase this hdd? so that i can get it up and running. i dont really want to take it to a shop to get it sorted 1 cause it will cost and 2 i would like to learn how to do this myself

any help on this matter would be much appreciated

Hi and wwelcome

It can be many things like encrypted so you cant. It might have malware, it might be an HD problem.

Your best bet will be to re-install the OS from a win 7 dvd (doing a clean install)
