Hi,

I have a small Windows 7 network (using a Homegroup).

Shared printer is a mono laser Samsung ML-1610 attached to main PC (Win 7) via USB.

I can print from main PC via USB lead (obviously),

I can also print to ML-1610 from a, long-time installed, remote PC Win 7), over the network.

I have previously printed from a variety of wireless devices (notebook PC's under Windows, Apple notebooks and Android phones.

Recently, when I try to set up a new notebook PC (under Win7) the PC finds the printer but states "Connecting to ........" and then up pops a "No driver found" message. I am then given an option to Browse for driver and despite having installed both the ML-1610 Windows 7 driver and Samsung's Universal Printer Driver, the new PC(s) is/are unable to install the driver.

Could I be repeatedly making the same silly installation error or could it be an issue with the (new) Universal Printer Driver as installation of that seems to be a common-denominator (although i could just as easily be barking up the wrong tree, entirely). Would tear my hair out (if I had enough left to grasp).

Any advice or ideas would be gratefully received.

Thank you. :)

I know its a PITA but have you tried printing directly from new notebook to printer ? this will tell you if issue is driver or network connectivity

Can notebook connect to host machine ok via homegroup ?

Yes, new PC's can print OK via USB and also access other Homegroup machines' public documents etc (and vice-versa).

Solved.....sort of

Having unearthed old versions of the Samsung printer drivers, I ended up uninstalling the Samsung drivers and reinstalling - but using the old (very old) drivers.

It all worked tickety-boo.

As per usual, updates aren't always necessarily improvements it would appear.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know it was solved and how it was solved.

Thank you.:)
