usb mouse keeps stopping... helppp

i got a dell inspiron 1545. the mouse is a usb optical mouse. the mouse will freeze and then be not recognized. if i leave it unplugged for a few hours and plug it in it will work for a little and do it all over. its a ativa mouse some regular optical mouse. plzzzzz help

I had the same problem with my USB mouse but unfortunately I had to discard it since the hardware was failing. In the box that came with the mouse, does it say that it was Windows 7 compatible? If it was, I fear that the device might be failing. Have you tried it on another computer by any chance? it could just be a driver problem. Sorry, i couldnt be of more help
