USB mouse not working when waking from sleep

I have a USB mouse (actually a trackball) attached to my laptop. If uses the "HID-compliant mouse" driver.

When the laptop wakes up from sleep mode, the only way I can get the mouse to work is to unplug the USB cable and then plug it in again.

I don't want the mouse to be able to wake up the laptop from sleep (currently it does not do this and that's the way I want it). But I do want the mouse to work without having to unplug it and replug it in every time I wake the laptop from sleep.

Any idea how to accomplish this?

Thank you for any help! :geek:

I see a couple of posts of this same problem in the past but none of them seem to have a real answer. One of them suggests checking for viruses (which is not the problem in my case).

I guess the lack of response means no one has any good ideas why this might be happening and how to solve it.

I also guess that maybe if I allow the mouse to wake the computer from sleep that would prevent it from being disabled when the computer wakes up.

But since I don't want to mouse to wake the computer up that wouldn't be a good solution.

There doesn't seem to be anyone that has a solution. Bummer. I thought someone would.

Hi,
No telling but you didn't post which exact device you have.

You can try to adjust your power plan settings for usb suspend to disabled.

It's the "HID-compliant mouse" driver that Windows provides with a Logitech TrackMan Marble FX trackball (my favorite pointing device of all times... unfortunately long discontinued).

It's a PS2 device so I have an adapter cable for the USB... ?maybe that's the problem?

I tried setting "USB selective suspend" to "Disabled" in the Power Plan but no joy. :(

*** Also should mention, it worked fine with Windows XP.

When did the problem started?
Only happens on your laptop?
Did you check the BIOS for USB suspend?
