Hi all,

I've searched the forums and found some similar situations but none of the possible solutions worked for me.
My problem is that my usb mouse is correctly recognized by W7 x64 (no exclamation points in device manager) but it refuses to work, the mouse arrow doesn't moves...
The curious is that the first time I booted into W7, the mouse worked but in the next boots I had to "Deactivate" and "Activate" the mouse in the device manager.
I've already uninstalled/reinstalled the mouse and connected it to the other USB ports (wich I'm sure that works because I can connect pen drives that work flawlessly).
An additional note might be that this same mouse works fine under Vista (is there a way to use Vista generic drivers in W7?)

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P
ATI Radeon 4890 1Gb DDR5

Mouse: Trust Wireless Laser Mouse MI-7500X

Thank you in advance!

Claudio Silva

BUMP... Still unsolved!

Please ppl, someone post some thoughts/ideas to solve my problem... I can't understand why a simple usb mouse doesn't work with the W7 drivers... Is there such thing as incompatible mice with W7?

Have you tried it on ALL the USB ports on your motherbored both front and back? If none of those work, you could always get a USB to PS2 adapter for your mouse and try that, they are pretty cheap.

@kegobeer: Yup, already checked their site, but, as you could see, there are no drivers for W7 (not even Vista as they say they're not needed)

@ Thagarr: Yes, tried the front ports too, none of them succeeded... Will try that usb to ps/2 adapter...

Might be because of the x64 OS incompatibility problem regarding drivers? Maybe if I install the x86 version the mouse will work... That's the next step...
I'll report back later with some results.

The 32 bit drivers won't install; at least, I've never seen any 32 bit drivers install on a 64 bit system.

Did you happen to do an in-place upgrade from Vista x64 to 7 x64?

I'm not trying to install 32 bit drivers, I'm just trying to put my mouse to work with the standard W7 drivers (64 bits)

No, my previous OS was XP x32, but I've bought a new machine and decided to try W7 x64 to fully take advantage of my system.

BTW, the usb to ps/2 adapter didn't work, so I think I'm going to install the 32 bit W7.

Yes, I've sent them an e-mail asking if they provide a 64 bit driver to support that mouse, and they told me that the mouse won't work in W7... I don't believe them since is just a mouse, it has to work with any OS (at least moving and right/left mouse button).

Have you tried installing the XP DRIVER - sometimes you get an OS mismatch error, and it wont install - to resolve this do the following :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

That's there way of trying to sell you a "New and improved mouse" Logitech told me my old Quickcam 3000 wouldn't work in Windows Vista or Windows 7. I got it working in both. Why actully support a product when we can just make them buy a new one! Typical corporate phillosophy. I'll keep looking and see if I can come up with something else to try.

I've already tried the compatibility mode but with no success (maybe because the setup.exe has 32 bit drivers?). Anyway, I'm tyred of trying to put my mouse to work. I'm going to try the x86 W7 and report back later.

PS: Do you guys think I'll notice some performance loss with the x86 version? I'm not going to use any image/video editing software, just office, and some recent games (to take advantage of my ATI 4890 graphics card)...

You wont notice any performance degradation in any case - if you want to strip the OS down you can, by going into Control Panel - Programs and Features - Turn Windows Features On or Off (on the left side) You can completely remove IE8 if your using another browser likewise Media Player 12 - also media centre if you dont have any use for it - tablet pc - fax and scan - and any of the other features you dont use.

Well, I finally solved my problem by installing W7 x86... I didn't have to do nothing else besides installing the OS, as the mouse start working immediately.
I want to appreciate all you ppl that helped me out but I think I'll need your help again since my DVD drive stopped reading any kind of discs (will start a new thread:p)

Again, thank you all.

Problem solved, thread can be closed.

To yakisir
I've just been to the site http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK and your mouse is only supported by WXP however if you go to the above site and download the xp driver you might be able to get it to install using compatibility mode if it wont install normally because of the OS mismatch - to do this do the following :
To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

In detail (this apply's to W7 also) : You cannot install a device driver by using its installation program in Windows Vista

Time for a new mouse, I got an old one but its not wireless so mine still works - did you try installing thru device manager? You have to unzip the package, and locate the info file - the detail link tells you how in my last post - briefly you just right click the mouse in device manager, and select update driver, and then select the browse option, and go to the folder with the info file (.inf) - If your had enough just treat yourself to a new mouse, as I doubt if that will make any difference.

Only suggestion is to go to the manufactures site and make sure the new mouse has W7 drivers, also make sure its compatible with your screen resolution.
