I installed a four port PCI usb card in my newly built rig and it worked fine but when I put the machine into sleep mode and tried to use the card later it did not work. Im running Win 7 home premium 64 bit and have a gigabyte motherboard. I have tried unticking the usb hub power management boxes in device manager and disabled the usb selective suspend setting in power options but no luck so far. Is this a windows issue or a motherboard one. Any help appreciated

Hi whatfor,

Please recheck if the USB card that you installed in the system is a PCI or a PCI Express card.

If you experience issues only when the system resumes from the sleep mode (not on system restart), you may want to check the 'Power Management Settings' for the 'PCI Express Card', if applicable http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/778-power-plan-settings-change.html:

If it is a 'PCI card', you may also check the 'System BIOS' (on Gigabyte Motherboard) to see if there is an option that may allow you to enable this feature.

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

thanks for the reply. It is a PCI card and I have unticked the 'allow computer to turn off power to this device' in power management in device manager and have disabled 'usb selective suspend settings' in advanced power options. There doesnt appear to be an option in the Bios to remedy this problem. I have raised a ticket at Gigabyte about this although I think it is probably a win 7 issue. I might add that a reboot gets the card working again until I put the computer back into sleep mode

Hi whatfor,

Thank you for the response.

Please share the make/model of the 'PCI Card' in use; need to check if a 'driver/software' update is available.
Would also like to see what the 'Motherboard manufacturer' has to say about it.

Do reply with the information.
