Hello. My laptop has 3 USB ports. 1 is situated on the left side and the others 2 on the right side. Until 2 weeks ago all worked properly. Now the 2 from the right side no longer recognize any USB device. The one from the left side does recognize USB devices but it does only if the USB device is connected in a certain position and at the slightest movement disconnects. What could it be? :geek:

Hello Florin,

Do you have a problem using USB ports on any other computer?

Depending on what this USB device is, it sounds like you could have a bad connector on the USB cable or USB flash drive (if this the USB device), or you could have bad USB porta on the laptop.

My bet is that you have bad USB ports on the laptop. Check to see if anything is bent or any noticable damage to the USB ports. In addition, check to see if the ports are clean of dust and debris, especially on the copper pins.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello Florin,

Do you have a problem using USB ports on any other computer?

Hello Mr Shawn. I didn't tried yet. I'm using a Sony Ericsson memory card adapter and a USB PEN to connect to internet.

My bet is that you have bad USB ports on the laptop.

Well they worked just fine for 8 months :D

Check to see if anything is bent or any noticable damage to the USB ports.

That's what i was suspecting about the 1 port from the left side.

In addition, check to see if the ports are clean of dust and debris, especially on the copper pins.

That is what I'm gonna do right now. :) But i doubt it to be the reason.
