USB ports stopped working right...

Hello guys!
This error happens suddenly... All the USB devices and the ports are working, they are activated on the bios, but they don't work when the Windows starts... In the Device Manager it shows an exclamation on USB controllers an says about code 10...

If I remove all the devices and then "Check for new Hardware", windows recognize all of them and everything works fine... Bu is just restart the pc and the error returns...

I've already updated the BIOS from Motherboard (updated it from USB, worked 100%), but when entering in Windows.

I've tryied to look for some Drivers, but didn't find nothing about USB drivers for my MB and Windows is using the "generic" USB Controllers...

IThe MB is a Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 (which is supported by Win7) and I'm using Windows 7 x64

How long have you been having this problem? Is this a new motherboard and a new installation of Windows 7? Did it work prior to upgrading (if you did) to 7?

It happened about one week ago... I'm using Seven since the early of December, and everything was fine (Used XP before with the same MB and never got any USB error)...
I think the error must be ocured when I've used a "fake" flash drive... Got an error during the file transfer and the Pc stucks... So I'd waited and cancelled the process, and Safely Remote the flash drive...
And now every time I got this error...

All the ports are working fine, I've updated the MB Bios with a USB Stick... And all the USB devices works if I remove them in Device Management and check for new hardware, but I dont get why they doesn't "boot" with windows...

Do you have a Live CD of Linux that you could boot to see if everything works ok?
In the past all of the USB problems I have seen have been hardware related, yours sounds like it could be a software problem though.

Hi, Welcome to SF,

You could try to remove the reinstall the drivers

A. Click on Start
B. Right Click on Computer
C. click on Properties
D. Click the Device Manager button.
E. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
F. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
G. Restart the computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB controllers. See whether it works

Try the Troubleshooting from Windows

* Click Start, Control Panel
* In the Control Panel, click System and Security
* In the System and Security window, under Action Center, click Troubleshoot common computer problems
* In the Troubleshoot computer problems window, click a specific task to automatically diagnose and fix a problem. To view more troubleshooters, click a category.

In the past all of the USB problems I have seen have been hardware related, yours sounds like it could be a software problem though.

I've done this right now... The windows recognize everything fine on the "first" reboot after deleting the devices, eevrything working as should be.

But I've rebooted again and the error returns...

Well, downloaded the 3 avaliable hotfixes for Seven x64, but the error persists...

I"m using a Live CD version from Ubuntu, and the USB are working...
I don't know what else can be done...

I'm running out of ideas. You could Repair Install would fix most of the problems

got the same problem after using fake flash drive... :'( Does the repair install worked??

Worked fine for me... Make sure you dont get USB ports with power problems...
