Hello everyone,

I'm really desperate right now, i hope someone is out there who could help me.

I've got a USB stick called Transcend. It's a 16 gig stick. (its pretty old though, 3 years?)
Now i dont really care about the USB itself, but rather the files on it...

Step by step what happens:
1. Inserting usb
2. screen pops up if i want to open the files, or open it with a software, etc. the usual thing. (However, this screen lasts for one second!)
3. USB entirely disconnects
4. PC tries to connect with usb again, steps repeat.

I have tried to recover my files by making a .rar file, I've tried to recover it with a program...
the thing is with all these methods, the usb pops out right in the middle of "recovering" data, therefore there is no way to get enough time for a program to take all files off...

I really hope anyone out there can help me!

I use Windows 7 64 bit

Have you tried it in another computer?
Are there any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?

I can only think the stick is faulty but there are lots of more knowledgeable people here who may be able to help. Good luck

I have to agree. Either the stick is faulty, the contacts are dirty, or the stick has moisture in it.

If the contacts are dirty, you could try gently rubbing them with an emery board.

If the stick has been affected by moisture, you can put it into a bag of uncooked rice for a few days and see if that helps.

Otherwise, your options are limited. A stick is not something the average person can fix. It requires special tools and training to do it. You may have to accept that you can't get your files back.

Try booting to live Linux Mint MATE and see how it will behave. Maybe it is OS specific.
