hello to every one
I have Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit triple booting with windows xp and window developer preview
and ALFA (AWUS036H) wireless usb adaptor
the reception in my room is poor so i've got a 5 meter usb extention cable to overcome my issue , when i connect them together the wireless adaptor works perfectly and i can easily connect to my wireless network but my problem is the adaptor becomes disabled or disconnected spontanously after 4 to 5 minutes.
i tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver and updated the driver as well but still the same issue
any help will be appretiated
i already tried a powered usb but still the same

thank you for the quick reply
i forgot to mention this, and yes it is working when i put the origional cable that came with the card which works without any problem, However i am sure there is no problem with 5 meter cable because i tested on my usb camera and works perfectly and also works with my wireles card but the problem as i mentioned before is after some time (5-10 minutes) it becomes disabled , the card is still connected to the computer and i can see it in device manager but i cannot access the network unless i disconnect the cable and reconnect and after 5 minutes same thing happens again , but in my mind i believe there is a problem with the power settings which are all default in device manager and i already tried powered usb hub still no luck ,so i don't really know what to do next i hope i could get some help
Open Device Manager, Select the ALFA (AWUS036H) Wireless USB Adapter (or whatever name you see for this adapter like Realtek or something), right click on it and select Properties. Go to Power Management tab and remove the tick mark (if there is a tick mark) on "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", Press OK button and close the dialog box. Reboot and check.
If this procedure works for you then repeat the above procedure for the remaining operating systems also.
