Use internal laptop speakers and jack simultaneously

Hi,

I have a dell studio 1555 laptop, when I have someting plugged into the jack such as headphones, the audio comes out of the jack, and not from the laptop's own internal speakers.

But when I am testing the devices in the sound settings, it lets me test for both the internal laptop speakers, and the heaphones so I know when I plug the headphones in, the hardware doesn't cut off the speakers physically.

Does anyone know how I can use both my jack and internal laptop speakers simultaneously.

In case you are wondering, I want to use the aux in the mini hi-fi in my bedroom so the sound comes out of the hifi speakers, but I want sound out of the internal laptop speakers simultaneously.

I would aprpeciate any help!!

Any please don't post links to hardware or extra compoenents as I am not that desperate, but there must be a way.

Probably not possible without actually rewiring your headphone jack, as it has a contact tab that disconnects the speakers when headphones or external speakers are plugged in, the reason being that output voltage for headphones is a fraction of that used for the internal speakers.

I think that is how it works in cheap voice recorders, cassette players and radios. I furthermore think that I have seen skype doing this, and I have also seen it when I was messing around with my sound card on my hp. I'd plug in the headset but I'd still get sound from the internal speakers.

You know what's odd, there have been several posts in this forum with the exact opposite problem. The headhone jack not cutting out the internal speakers.

The audio system offers quite a few options. With the headphones plugged in, right click the Microsoft Speaker icon in the task bar and select "playback devices".

Or... whth the headphones are plugged in, open the full audio mixer and see if volume controls for both speakers and phones is available.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think you can do this with an ASIO driver called ASIO for all. I've definitely been able to do it. Only problem is the driver can be a bit tempermental/ tricky to set up properly
