Use SSD For OS and 3 other HDD's

Hi so i was wondering how to set up my 120 GB SSD as just my OS Drive then use my 1 TB and my 750 and another 750 for data etc.

so i have backed up all my data from my current install (right now im running my OS from the 1 tb and the SSD isn't even being used yet )

just wanted to know the best way to set it up so i can use the SSD JUST FOR THE OS and then install programs and steam etc in the 1 TB (cuz i got at least 500 GB of games from steam)

can i just install the OS on the SSD then format my 1 TB and make 3 folders Users, Program Files and Program Files (x86), and then install programs in to the appropriate folders?

Follow the same steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with only the SSD plugged in.

Then after install plug back in the HDD, copy onto it the User folders from backup, sort all loose data into them. Then rightclick each to add to the related Win7 Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. You will need to create a Downloads library during the process.

Keep the C User folders in each Library so you can watch for anything written there and easily drag it over to the HD User folder in the same Library window.

If space gets tight you can reduce your page file to 2gb, but I would keep the modern Hibernate function file onboard the SSD.

Some lesser-used Programs can also be uninstalled and reinstalled to the target HDD but I'd keep most Program files on the SSD to benefit from the faster speed.

OK im a little confused with the libraries part of that

No need to be confused. It's the easiest way to have your files on the HD show up under User folders - Documents, Pictures, Music, etc. Copy those folders to the HD, then rightclick each to Add to the related Library. You'll then see them there.

You'lll not want to use the C User folders but keep it also in the library so you can see if anything is written to it and drag it over to the HDD copy.

ok so in this tutorial (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...move-during-windows-7-installation.html?ltr=U) it has a way of doing all that before you even install the OS would this not be the same thing??

We've gotten away from advising to move the User folders because of issues which some users had, e.g. being forced by Win7 backup imaging to include the data drive since it now contains System folders thus defeating the purpose of separating the data from OS drive to keep it smaller.

So much easier to just copy the User folders to data drive, then rightclick to link to the related Library. Takes 5 seconds each.

ok so the way i backed up my PC was went to C:/Users/Matt and backed up the entire folder so it has my downloads my documents etc so do i just past that into my extra drive and then click on each of those and do the include this library thing?

You can, but there are hidden folders you don't need which take up space so I would drag only the User folders which you use to the HD, then rightclick on each to Add to Library. For Downloads you'll need to tell it to Create Library.
