used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition

Hi, I just used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home edition to Move/Resize my Primary hard drive. The final result is it has removed my "C" drive letter and the status is now "none" and of course I cannot boot up my vista laptop, any help would be gratefully received. I can boot with the minitool cd and can see the hard drive and explore its contents,and it says it is the primary drive but I see no "Drive Letters" and the status is "none"

Boot the partition Wizard cd.

Make sure the Vista partition is marked Active.( If not, mark it active )

Rt click it and assign it a drive letter.

Boot the Vista dvd or Vista install dvd or win7 repair cd or Win7 install dvd and run startup repair 2 or 3 times.

This is why one should always use the PW boot disk - because it will never fail - while all other partition managers except Disk management can and will fail.

However if you can see your data then it's likely recoverable using the method SIW2 posted.

g'day all, I thank you for your very prompt replies. appologies, I should have told you it is a acer laptop, that I had made factory recovery discs for and I get no offer of repair. I did boot using the partition wizard cd but partition would not stay active and I still could not allocate a drive letter (that part was greyed out) I do thank you again for your effort to help me but have decided to bite the bullet, learn from MY mistakes and do a factory recovery.
