User Accounts and startup programs UAC

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

I'm setting up standard user accounts for the other family members. When I log in on those non-administrator accounts I get multiple flashing icons in the taskbar. Clicking on these leads to the UAC requesting permission to allow changes to the computer.

There also is a box to input the administrator password to allow the program to startup. These are mostly ASUS programs, like TurboV, Q-Button, EPU, stuff like that.

I don't need these programs starting for anyone but myself, so how can I selectively start these programs so the other users don't get the popup's on login?

Thanks.

Rocker.

Navigate to the user's registry,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

And delete the program entries you don't want to run on startup.

NOTE: you must do this for each individual user.

That should do the trick.

There is nothing in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry key.

I can't make the shortcut as these programs are autostarting and so far I can't figure out from where. They are not in the Startup group on the Start Menu.

Is there a way to use standard accounts and have selective startups, or these programs auto starting with administrator approval?

They're probably lurking in here:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I'm not sure it's different for me, but check all the accounts in the HKEY_USERS, each ones has something different. (in my case anyways)

Hello Rocker, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You will need to do this from within a administrator account, but you can use METHOD FOUR in the tutorial below and remove the startup program entries in step 4 that you do not want to run at startup for all user accounts. You will also need to add the ones that you removed in step 4 to the location in step 3 instead so that they will still load in the administrator account at startup.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
