Hi everyone,

I installed windows 7 Ultimate on my work notebook (sony vaio). As a result I had a local user. In order to connect me to the work domain, the IT guy created another user account which was part of the domain and added this profile to Administrators in windows.

I had disabled the local user profile and yesterday I decided to delete it. During the process it asked me something about the sharing of folders with other users I said no... don't remember exactly what :)

the thing is now I have certain folders that have next to them a lock... I can access them but I think this has to do with the fact that I deleted the other account. Also these folders have the "read only" enabled...and I cant remove it.

Moreover, I was trying to create it again, but I can't really figure out how can I do that from a domain account to creat a local account?!

How can I fix the issue with the folders and how can I create a local user account from a domain account?

In general, is there any problem potentially that I have only domain account? Is it better to have a local account as well and have it disabled?

Thanks in advance.

P.s. forgot to add that now I can't update windows or antivirus from home. Before creating the domain account I've done it. I have access to internet though no problem. Why is that?

Just a thought....did you try a system restore back to a couple of days ago (before you deleted the account)??
If you have a good restore point from a couple of days ago you might be able to Un-Do the user account delete that caused your problems.

..like I said, just a thought.

This Computer building crap started out years ago as a simple hobby..that has now gotten completely out of hand !!
(It does come in handy though, when everyone in the family wants their own computer)
Ive done it and it helped. Thanks.
Why i had this issue though?

I still cant update. At work we have proxies and i update normally. At home i cant, but i have access to internet. How is that possible?

What issues? As far as I can tell you had ZERO issues to begin with. Folders btw do not have "readonly" abilities. And why you cannot update when connected to a Domain is probably because the Domain has different policies or an internal update server you connect to.

What do you mean folders dont have read only...if you go to properties...read only is selected...and I cant remove it.

The issues that I had were that I was receiving a lock sign next to the certain folders.

About the domain policies for updates... can I change them?

Read only does not apply to folders, the readonly checkbox in the properties does nothing to folders. Second you can ignore the locks on folders. Can you change Domain policies? Only if you are a Domain Administrator.
