user accounts

I have searched trying to match my need to many different setups of user.
I have a new laptop. shared by wife and myself. the account is set to administrator. set up user for myself so that I could have certain programs for my use only. when I try to install say Quicken it also appears in our joint account.
how do I get a user account with only my programs and data files on my desktop and not on the main one we both use.

Could you clarify as to what exactly you would like to do? Do you want to restrict the quicken application to your user account only or do you want to have separate Quicken accounts for both your wife and yourself?

I have a user account larry and I want to have Quicken and other programs to be for me only. we both use Incredimail and I have them sep. but cannot see why programs I install on larry also appear on the desktop when I log into our joint one.'

Hi Larry

Given that your user accounts are running on the same PC (and under the same Admin account), it may not be possible for you to achieve what you are after given that installations for programs are global (from the Admin Account).
What you could do though is restrict access to programs that are on your laptop.
