User-Agent Switcher and Manager Won't Install On Win 7

I'm running Firefox 115 ESR. When I try to download the User-Agent Switcher and Manager (by Ray) I get an error message that it's not compatible with 115. Isn't that the point of this extension to mask "old" versions so that websites won't reject the browser trying to access them?

I need to use Firefox for a particular financial website to download PDFs as r3dfox consistently fails to download PDFs from that site.

You might try to download an older version of the plugin. Most likely, you're trying the last one which raised the requirement above version 115.

That's one possible use for it, but that's not the whole purpose for its existence.

Apparently they made it require FF 132 starting with 0.6. 0.5 still shows compatible. You'll need to use that one. You can download it from here: User-Agent Switcher and Manager version history - 25 versions – Add-ons for Firefox (en-US) You can also go with R3dfox. It's a Firefox fork still supporting older systems.

Thank you. I downloaded the 0.5 version but how do I use it? There isn't an icon for the extension on the toolbar. And the icon for it on Chrome (Avast) browser that I used just yesterday has now disappeared from the Chrome toolbar. What am I doing wrong?

Regarding R3Dfox, I do use it but it has a bug in that it consistently fails to download PDF files from a particular financial website I access. So I need Firefox for that site.

When you clicked on download file it didn't prompt you to add it to firefox? It did me and I was able to add it.

I did select the Firefox version from the site but no, it didn't prompt me. I suppose I should try downloading it again.

Thank you for the link but that didn't make it better. It asked if I wanted to add it to Firefox I selected to add it. But I still don't have an icon to run it.

I just drag the files into FF and they install.

Yes - it shows up in Tools -> Add-ons and it's enabled.

I figured out that I have to select "Pin to toolbar" when I install it to get the icon to show up. But when I hover on the icon it says it's disabled and I have to enable it by using the pop-up window. When I click on it it is showing only a list of 400 Chrome user agents. There isn't anything there for Firefox. I downloaded it from the link I was given in a post above.

The Firefox I'm running is 115.31.0esr. What am I doing wrong???

This extension is not working at all. I selected a user agent from the site's list - all said "chrome" and none said "Firefox". I selected :Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/125.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 OpenWave/93.4.3797.32
But it's not being recognized and websites are rejecting my access with Firefox. Is there a different thread where I should be posting these problems?

Thanks for your suggestion but I don't use Opera. Given its location & ownership, I don't trust its data collection practices.

I use opera gx as a secondary browser and trust it way more than chrome or edge. I still prefer Firefox. But to each his own.
