I was moving/deleting files and received a message that I do not have permission to do this. I set my UAC to the minimum thinking this would help, but it does not. How do I set up my system so I can move/delete any file without any messages/warnings??

You need to "Take Ownership" of the file...

I did not realize you had an attachment. I googled "take ownership" and did it, then changed permissions to the folder, but cannot get the "special permissions" box to un-gray out so I can check that box. What do I do with the file you attached after I d/l it?

just click on it and when it asks you if you want to merge it, answer yes.. then whenever you right click on a file you wll see an option to take ownership!

You run it and it adds some keys to the registry that gives you a take ownership item in the explorer context menu.

I personally prefer to make such changes to the registry using a free program like Ultimate Windows Tweaker v2, a Tweak UI for Windows 7 simply because it makes it easier to make and subsequently undo such changes if I ever should want to.

The above referenced program has an option to add a "Take Ownership" menu item for drives/folders and one for files.

Im sure that programs like that work fine, however, I shy away from tweaker/optimizers, as I already know most of those tweaks to begin with..

I agree with Scripts are best. At least I can edit them to see what they add, many programs (originally very good) are later nixed and crapped by malware, trojans, so unless you REALLY TRUST the place or person, BE WARNED. TEWS I trust.
