User Folder name doesn't match object name

Hi folks,

I recently had to relocate my User folder and its contents because the drive it was on started to go sour :-/ There were some odd hiccups that occurred that I mostly sorted out, except for one thing: my user folder is now named "Downloads", and I cannot rename it.

The actual object name still appears to be correct; any folder or file inside correctly lists its path as "C:\Users\Jason", and all the software that references the %USERPROFILE% folder appears to be working fine. However, when navigating the folders, or in the top of the window where it lists the path, the folder name is incorrect. Normally I'd just rename the folder, but it simply doesn't give me the option to do so.

This is more of an annoyance than anything else; since everything works, I'd rather not go through the rigmarole of creating a new user account and moving everything if that's what it takes. However, if anyone knows a way to fix this I'd really appreciate it! :)

Hi,

I have the exact same problem.

Apart from the User folder being named Downloads, when I access the folder from the desktop shorcut, there is a shorcut called Downloads inside the folder, which just redirects to the same folder (C:\Users\Sebas). I don't know how that shortcut got there, but I can't delete it because that will just delete the entire user folder.

You probably put the desktop.ini file that was in "Downloads" in the root of your user folder.
