User Icons Welcome screen corrupted by JV16 Powertools

My welcome screen login always had two icons with the my user names. Since doing a registry clean with JV16 Powertools 2009 my screen changed and now I have to type in a box named "other user" the name of user I want. Since I did a reboot after the clean and the welcome was changed. I know for a fact this was caused by JV16. Since that scan I have not been able to restore my system to an earlier date either. I have tried everything and have not been able to fix my problem. This happened once before but I was able fix the login issue by doing system restore but this time restore stopped working.

Ran sfc /scannow last night and unfortunately no errors were found

Looks like that does a reinstall and data is reset to default

Also tried the startup repair with no results, computer starts fine but logon screen has 2 users with one being OTHER USER rather than a name before i ran JV16 POWERTOOLS 2009. I think it changed something in the Registry. Any Ideas

Did that registry tool create a "backup" of the registry BEFORE it made changes, if so, see if that is still intact to use to restore the registry.

Great idea but i didnt create backup cause figured i could do sys restore, but now thats not working. Think i have fix for the restore-missing file in reg, going to create new one

Once you get this one sorted, have a look at this tutorial to use to create system restore points at startup, it's almost automatic once it's set up; there's even a method to use without a startup/re-start; at the link below.
