I just had my computer reformatted and changed OS's from vista to Windows 7. Unfortunately my computer guy thinks he is funny and when it asked you to name your computer he called it "Homo".

I'll admit this was pretty funny when I brought it home and saw that but after a few hours with struggling to figure out how to change it, it just started to piss me off.

I've changed the User name to Scott and in the advanced settings I changed my computer name to Scott-PC, but everything is still listed as "homo". Call me OCD but this is driving me absolutely insane and my computer guy wont answer his f*cking phone to tell me how to change it. I've litterally spent hours trying to figure it out.

The closest I got was in some sort of properties menu where you can set what each account can do. I see it listed as Homo but there is a lock infront of it where you could usually change it.

Suggestions?

Take the unit back to the tech

Ask him nicely to change it for you , or ask to talk with his boss. "Homo" isn't funny, I mean if the guys is your buddy then "homo" is funny other wise, not so much

From what I have seen, the best way to do this other than a reinstall is to create another user account (set it up as an adminisrator account), then when you have it the way you want it (copy all documents etc.), delete the other (Homo) account.

As always in these cases, the guy is just revealing what's on his mind.

PMFSL... however, without suffixing 'sexual' it isn't a derogatory term really... ;)

The issue that you have here is although you can change the display name for the user and computer, as you have, this does not change the name on the user files tree.

As this information is also written all over the registry changing this is not a simple task.

As suggested earlier your best solution is to crate a new admin user and log into the new user account, move any files you need from the "homo" account tree and delete the "homo" account (including files).

If you choose not to delete the files they will be stored in a folder an the desktop of the new admin user.
