User Profile Creation Issues

Hi All:

I am experiencing an issue with a single user where here user profile is not created properly. When launching IE9 it opens/shuts and when opening an explorer window from the dock it displays a warning message indicated that not all drives were mounted.

This machine is running Win7 64 bit and is connected to a domain. Other domain users work. This user has attempted logging onto multiple machines running Win7 with the same results.

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions to try?

I'm not sure what you're actually asking for... Let me see if we can narrow this down a bit.

This user can or can NOT login to a windows 7 computer?
After successfully logging into a windows 7 machine, this user is able or UNABLE to open IE9?
When opening windows explorer you get an error message saying that network drives were UNABLE to reconnect?

Hi Brady. Let me try to clarify things.

The user is a domain user. The user is able to log in. Once logged in, the default profile creates a dock which includes IE9, Explorer and Windows Media. When IE9 is selected from the dock it quickly opens then closes. When selecting the Explorer folder from the dock a warning is displayed indicating some media was not able to be mounted. Once the warning is dismissed, the explorer window does not open. Windows explorer can be opened through the hotkey Win+E.

All domain users who log in to Win 7 work fine (none of the stuff mentioned above happens) except for this single user. I'm trying to determine why this single user has this happen to them. We've tried multiple fresh installs of Win7. It happens all the time to this one user. Would this be a domain setting (we're using openldap and samba).

I would blow out the user account through openldap and start again. It sounds like the directory account is corrupted.

So I've found out what the issue was. A ldap group exists where the user is a part of and has the same name i.e. user: Bob and group: Bob where Bob(User) is a member of Bob(Group).

Now why is this an issue? Cannot I not have a user and group with the same name? We never ran into this issue on XP or Vista. :sarc:

relational SIDs shouldn't conflict... However, I'm not 100% familiar with the openLDAP services.
