Hello,
I have a new desktop A to replace my old desktop B. B was setup to file share (full access) independent of win 7 homegroup and was seen and accessed by my laptop (work).
Now the new desktop A can be seen by my laptop. The name AVA... (from the place I purchased it) is seen in the Network directory tree but I cannot access it. Neither the name or password will be accepted. It shows:
"Enter password to: AVA...
WORK\Shawn
[password space]....
Use another account
X The user name or password is incorrect."
Originally it had a different user name (probably AVA...) that I just switched to "Shawn".
(I did not test network between A and laptop before changing the name to "Shawn" so I cannot tell you if it worked before. Never thought there'd be a problem!)
