I have done a serach for an answer but I am not quite sure whether I have found the answer.

I have called my User account Alpha. When I go to C - Users - Alpha I found 3 directories which are My Documents, My Music and My Pictures. All my music files are listed in My Music and all my picture files are listed in My Pictures. None of my personal documents is listed at this point.

If I now select My Documents I now find 3 sub-directories - My Music, My Pictures and My Documents. All my music files are again listed in My Music and all my picture files are again listed in My Pictures. None of my personal documents is listed at this point.

If I now select Documents I now find all my personal documents.

I did not devise this structure. It appears to have originated on installation of the software. Do I need all these sub-directories? Can I just move everything into the first directory and delete these sub-directories?

Hello dcc1

C:/users/Alpha should contain all your user folders as long has you haven't moved them to another drive/partition.
Something is wrong here somewhere. There should be no sub folders for these like you describe, it should simply be C:/users/Alpha and all of your user folders. Have you deleted the other original user folders (downloads/favorites/videos etc)
Try following this - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18583-user-folders-restore-default-location.html to put your folders back in the default location.
Can you post a screenshot of your C:/users/Alpha folder - http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...ed-method-uploading-posting-screen-shots.html

Thanks Danny.

I have also checked with another computer and reset my structure the same by copying the files from one location to another which seems to have worked. I suppose I now have to check my backup programmes to ensure they look in the right places.
Thanks for your help.

Yes your back-up will likely be looking in the wrong places now so that's a good idea to check that now.
