Usig Sysprep to replace NewSID please help

Hi guys, first time poster here, so sorry if I have posted in the wrong forums.
I have a few model specific windows 7 images that were created using Ghost. I used to use NewSID to generate new SIDs for my XP OSes, but from what I have read, NewSID will destroy a Windows 7 machine.
I looked for alternatives and found Sysprep from Microsoft.
Just a quick question, is there a simple way to use the Windows 7 Ghost images that I already have together with sysprep (I'm assuming using the command sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown in command prompt) to create a new SID for the machine or do I hve to follow the steps listed here How To Image and Deploy Windows 7 a Complete Guide - Using sysprep and imagex - Ben O'Sullivan and completely install windows 7 (with the programs already installed from the imagex process) or is there a simpler step than the one posted in the blog I linked (In case anyone asks, yes 'm joining them to a domain)?

EDIT: And also, how can I verify that the SIDs are not duplicate? Is there any command I can run to show the machine's SID? Thank you.
