Solved Using Dism++

Since the instructions for this program are literally in Chinese, I've used only the Win Update and Cleanup features, which I learned at this forum. Are there other useful features you recommend, and are there translations somewhere of the directions?

DISM++ can do the following [among other things!] . . .

Backup & Restore Activation Key & 3rd Party Drivers.
Export Drivers.
Offline & Online Updates.
Creates a new ISO.

What in particular are you wanting to know?

DISM++ Website [you might need to translate the page] => DISM++ - New Windows Utility.

A lot of it looks too technical for me. I wouldn't trust a translation program to work on technical computer terms.
Of your list, I see only the reference to an image, under "File," and I already have a driver exporter.

What's an offline update?
What does System Optimizer do? My other machine has something slowing it down, and I haven't found it yet
What's "backing up the activation key?"

An offline update is where somebody already has WU KB MSUs already on the computer's drive, you type the commandline naming an MSU, and dism++ will install said MSU or return an error message. For example:
DISM++x[32 or 64].exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\wusa\UPDATE_NAME.msu
In my situation, all the dism files, and the needed MSUs, reside in c:\wusa.

A competitor, PortableUpdate, does something similar concerning WUs, it searches for, downloads the needed WUs, installs same or returns an error message.

System optimizer is probably akin to our optimizers -- they purport to slim trim Windows via some techie-magic to make things go faster and smoother. However, be advised that sometimes faster is not always better. Make OS full images before experimenting.

It can back up and restore the operating system.
It can backup and restore your windows activation.
It can be run from one operating system ( or boot media ) and pointed at another operating system to perform all the above on the operating system you pointed it at.

The User Interface makes it very obvious what to do.

It's not obvious to all of us, otherwise I wouldn't have asked. Some of these things have no instructions. How do I backup and restore my windows activation? How do I know if
I'll stick with programs I know.Thanks

First make sure you have a folder called ActiveBackup. If it not there, create it.





Then Click Toolkit, then click Activation Backup.

Just updated Dism to newest version. And under what circumstances would I need activ backup? If MS says my copy isn't legal?

Those are the two I already know, and I have a redundant backup and image scheme already.

I will create ActiveBackup folder when I get home. RoWin7, don't feel bad, much of DISM++ via Chuyu.Me was not obvious to me either. I had to really read each item and take a guess at what very likely will happen if any particular item is activated. Optimizer? Did Chuyu make his optimizer similar to the ones I have run across over the years? Or, did he make it much better? I'm guessing your important question set is my important question set: Pertaining to each item, what features and benefits does each item provide, how does each item accomplish that? Wait until you meet the command-line DISM++, one must type exact precise action sentences or get error messages.

I don't feel bad, Chuyo isn't programming for the average user.
I don't do command lines unless I have the precise text from someone else. My first computer was a Win98.

It's OK, I don't want to guess with system functions. I have Glary Utilities and assorted other utilities to do many of these.

I meant the universal our, speaking about the numerous web sites [not BC!] claiming their optimizers are the best.

"...Glary Utilities..." That is cool! I have WinUtilities, just in case something specific is needed
Did you ever hear of or lightly try jv16PowerTools? I use that for specific purposes.
