I just finished loading Windows 7 Professional x64 plus all my software onto a SSD. Next I plugged in a mechanical hard drive. How do I get Windows 7 to recognize the HDD and load data on it?

Is the HDD seen in the BIOS?

Is it seen in Windows Disk Management?

You have to partition it, format it, and give it a drive letter. All of that can be done in Disk Management.

Why was this marked as solved?

Hard to guess why the drive isn't being seen. Would the BIOS pick it up if it was connected to one of the jmicron (black) SATA ports? (Not a rhetorical question.)

Scooter,

Have you checked to see that the SATA and power connectors are securely inserted into the HDD?
