Hi,
I'm just wondering if I can install the 32 bit dvd that comes with the win 7 upgrade set on 1 older 32 bit pc and install the 64 bit dvd on my newer pc that is 64 bit capable with the same upgrade disk set without any further keys from microsoft??
Soytainly would save me a chunk of cash and make better use of the materials shipped..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. :geek:
Thanks,
Chuck

You would need a second Product key to use Win7 on a second machine.

You could try both on the same computer in a dual boot as activation might view it as the same installation since there is the same hardware signature. Let us know how this works if you try it.

What you're asking cannot be done legally unless you purchase a second key.

The EULA Says:
2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
a. One Copy per Computer. You may install one copy of the software on one computer. That computer is the “licensed computer.”
b. Licensed Computer. You may use the software on up to two processors on the licensed computer at one time. Unless otherwise provided in these license terms, you may not use the software on any other computer.
c. Number of Users. Unless otherwise provided in these license terms, only one user may use the software at a time.
d. Alternative Versions. The software may include more than one version, such as 32-bit and 64-bit. You may install and use only one version at one time.

In short, no.

thanks kindly, thats what i was looking for, windows eula and the legality of it all.. can it, sure but not without problems or further hassle or expense. should it, nah its illegal and can result in fines, etc and uncool..
so's i have to get 2 copies of win 7 to cover my current enough pc's here at home.. alas, where will it all end.. lol.. wish there were an easier or less expensive way to get win 7 pro on both boxes with out having to dish out the $199 each for the upgrade version..
thanks much,

I feel your pain... Now, you might want to reconsider the version you are using. The Home Premium version is enough for most home users, unless you want Virtual XP. I doubt you would need Domain Join and to backup over a network if it is not a corporate environment. Check details here. That could save you 80 bucks...

yea i could install home premium on my sons older single core box, but again he also plays a lot of older games that i have not checked compatibility with when i had the rc on his box whether they will play correctly in win 7.. then again i can always redo the dual boot scenario on his machine just as i will on mine with win 7pro.. ahh the multiple solutions to a common problem.. lol..
thanks again,
