I use uTorrent to share files that I've accumulated for certain phones like S4 and S3 and Photon 4G etc. Some files are hard to find and links for them break all the time.

I've heard that uTorrent 3.x sucks. Why? I don't know the specifics but I think it has something to do with allowed trackers etc. I heard uTorrent 2.x is the versions of choice. Can anyone give some insight on this?

Also, what other torrent clients excel at seeding since that's what I will be doing. It's obvious your Internet connection has much to do with it but I just want the best client to use to share my compilation of ROMS, Stock images, kernels, modems, etc.

Any pertinent responses are greatly appreciated!

I'm using it too and have read some rumors about it creating some problems. The concrete topic when some people cry is when using it to create torrent files (instead of just downloading and seeding). Apparently, to support some of its "exclusive" features, a few proprietary extensions are added to created torrents, and those might create problems with certain trackers that handle them incorrectly.

In my personal experience, very little, if any, problems with it, no site ever rejected it. I have to say that I never created a torrent for those, however. Currently, I'm at version 3.3.1, and some day I may update to the current one.

Some trackers do reject later versions of uTorrent. For example, BakaBT (anime tracker) has a blacklist of rejected uTorrent versions. In such situations, I keep an older uTorrent around.

If you're looking for an alternative, try qBittorrent.

I'm still using µTorrent 2.1.1 without issues. I tried a newer version, forget which, but it looked very spammy to me so I ditched it.

My main goal here is to find a torrent client that will be BEST for seeding as that's what i am doing, sharing hard to find files for specific phones for specific carriers...

Currently i can only connect to 2 maybe 3 peers per torrent, total of 2 torrents, so basically im only connecting to 5-7 peers MAX.

A recommendation for a client that's good for seeding, isn't picky with trackers, and with very little "Bloatware" type of stuff in it would be awesome, too!!

More trackers don't necessarily mean better speeds... some are private and some are simply rejected by the client. So hand picking the trackers to use before creating the torrent (Like ones recommended on the site your uploading the torrent to) would be a good place to start.

I think too that seeders who are willing to, well, seed is helpful. Sometimes I see a dozen or two who don't share but are in the peer lists.

If they pause or stop the torrent they do not show up as "Seeds" if i'm not mistaken. Seeders are only seeders if they keep the torrent active after the download completes. Otherwise they don't show up as Seeds or leeches.

Well i'm no expert on it or nothin. Just want to get my client setup to share my torrents the quickest and most efficient way possible lol

And honestly... as far as trackers and swarms and all that goes... i've gotten so many different answers on the utorrent forums it just seems like people do what they feel is best almost like their is no "Right way" to do things... Either that or things change quite a bit depending on the site your uploading to.

Throttling and Encryption seems like something worth lookin in to.... 45-70 percent of a countries bandwidth coming from 1 application type is a LOT.

I bet the throttling technologies are extremely difficult to circumvent.... I know what i'm doin' when i get home right after i burn one .... which is researching, very slowly, on how to get around throttling

Bittorrent and Malware lists some scary numbers though... but applies more for people out their pirating software anyway. i just upload hard to find files to try and make them easier to obtain if i ever lose my copy to be honest... Heres one of my torrents right here:

Yea i randomize my port each time i load it and use encryption etc... but like i said i'm sure they know all the tricks. All they have to do is download the latest version of a client and exploit it. Probably gotta know your stuff big time in order to get around the throttling.

It sucks thought because i plan on having my S4 for a LONG time and i'm having problems getting people to seed it to where it will stick around... I do have them in my dropbox though the download speed is just so slow.
