just wondering what are the differences between these 2 enclosures? i can only notice the design, dimension and price?

for those wondering in future posts..

i emailed vantec and they said the difference is the chipsets then i asked whats the difference and they replied with..

There are no different between these two chipssets and we just use two different manufacturers.

I also have 2 of the USB 2.0 enclosures,.. I love 'em,... and I can't find any differences between the two you cited other than case design. I like the rounded ones a bit better.

Also, depending on your particular circumstances, this site, Vantec NST-310S3-BK NexStar CX Hard Drive Enclosure - 3.5 SATA to USB 3.0 at TigerDirect.com , has the same enclosure for $10 less,...

@ corelogik - yeah i can get that for $39 too, just the other site that has it for $39 only has prices and no info on their website but thanks for heads up

both are stackable but i read that the the CX is a little more slippery than the other model and the NST-380S3 may give slightly cooler HDD temps

oh may i mention im getting the Vantec NexStar 3.5'' USB 3.0 Enclosure NST-380S3 one. i got it for $30 Canadian

goign to put a 1tetabyte sata 3 in it.... i know... but even if it has a sata 3 connector it would not get any faster, i mean a hard disk can only go so fast

sorry for the bump but the 100% metal case is good for dissipating the heat it is giving off, so far so good. (format is takeing a long time, what you expect from a 1tb drive new)

here are the benchmarks i got, leads me to beleive that i am reaching the HD's physical limit with the numbers i get.

never checked, but it did get hot, but thats entirely because i got a high performance drive that does get hot. but it never got to a worrying temperature, the case still easily got rid of the heat

I have one of those cases around here some place and love it, doesn't complain about the USB cable I use like my WD external does and it has better times with the same drive compared to my WD drive in the case.
