Hi all,
I have an LG GH22NS50 burner and am having trouble with burning movies. When using Ritek 8x speed I get frame stutter but if i use an old Verbatim DVD-RW I've got, which is 2x speed, no problem. The burner seems to burn at the rated media speed so I'm wondering if there is (a) any new burner which has a variable speed option, or (b) a workaround/program for my LG burner. I know I could get slower speed media but I've got a heap of these Ritek discs and don't want to waste them. Thanks for any help.

Its possibly its the blank media itself.

I have a 2 LG drives and have never experienced such issues with Verbatim or Memorex media. Never tried Ritex though.
Some drives can be picky when it comes to blank media.

Also, which software are you using to burn the discs?
Most have a option in the software itself to choose a write speed.

With Nero for example, the write speed option will be after you complie everything, and right before you start burning.
In Advanced options.

So whatever app you use, it should be something quite similar.

If the current software is set to Auto, it should go by whatever the media is capable of and burn as fast as it can.

Hi Wish, thanks for your reply.
I may have solved it. I was using A-Shampoo and sometimes the internal program of ConvertXtoDVD, which even though the option is there, won't allow me to change speed. Everything plays OK on my old DVD player/recorder but the problem was occurring on the new HD DVD unit which I just bought. I've been told these new recorders can be touchy and tried everything to no avail but finally figured it had to be burning speed and/or media. I switched to imgburn this morning which allows me to alter the burning speed, ran it at x2 and walah, all looks good.....so far! Thanks again!
