Hi everyone - help!

The past two days I've been getting random BSODs with varying error messages and it's driving me absolutely barmy.

One of them knackered up my email which I've spent hours yesterday trying to fix...

I've managed to take a photo of most of them and they say (in order):

BLANK - no error message showing
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
BLANK - again
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
BAD_POOL_HEADER
BAD_POOL_HEADER
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

I've also had another error message amongst those saying:
WerFault.exe - the instruction...referenced memory at...the memory could not be read.

What can I do to fix it? I've attached the logs as requested.

Many thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply...I didn't think how that could be to blame but after you said that I've been doing some Googling and it does indeed seem that a Kaspersky corruption could cause those error messages.

Funnily enough, last night for only about the second time in the two year license Kaspersky stopped working...

Fingers crossed!

Ooh while I think about it...I've just - this morning bought another 5 user licence for Kaspersky for the best part of £25.

How does MSE comare? I've not heard the best of reviews...if this is a quick fix is it worth keeping the purchase?

Personally, I would see if you can get your money back!!

I and a lot of members on these forums use MSE & Malwarebytes as a great Combo, I used to use Avast for many years without problems, until it started getting a bit bloated, then I made the switch after a clean install, and so far so good!!

A lot of antiviruses tend to try and do to much, hence the crashes and BSOD, MSE however just sits there and does its thing.

No antivirus is 100% secure, so paying for something is just a waste of money in my opinion. The key here is not if I get a virus but when I get a virus. Having a good backup strategy is the way to go, I have an external hard drive with all my data on it i.e Photoshop files, emails, passwords, you get the Idea, I even have all my drivers backed up for when it happens!!

Hope this helps - Keep us posted on the Blue screens. ;)

Thanks for the detailed reply, I'll have to have a good think and do some further reading on it!

On the positive front...it's now 13:08 and there's been no BSODs yet...still fingers crossed!!!

Oh dear...oh dear...oh dear...

Well...the BSODs have narrowed down now...the first one was at 17:30ish so I got a good 4 hours out of it before it crashed...I even thought it was fixed...there have been some other issues as well so I'm totally flummoxed!

1. BSODing with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error - only ever that one now.
2. Error thrown up with WerFault.exe again.
3. I tried to check everything with the sfc /scannow command - and it crashed the system with error 1.
4. I booted into safe mode to try and run 3 - and it hung on classpnp.sys and eventually booted itself back into Windows normally.

What on earth is going on????

:(

Small confession...as I'd already bought Kaspersky, I uninstalled what I had thinking it was a corrupt install and downloaded the latest 2013 version rather than a trial. I used Kavremover first to make sure all traces had gone...you're going to say it's Kaspersky again aren't you...:p

One odd thing that seems to make it crash is Windows media centre when I'm skipping through HD recordings which made me wonder if the graphics card could be at fault at all.

This morning (after another two BSODs) I have:

Uninstalled Kaspersky entirely and installed MSE
Uninstalled and updated the Nvidia drivers.

Just restarted and it's 09:00...see how it goes on...

Wow...

It's 9:06 and I've just booted back in after a:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_UNPAGED_AREA BSOD

All I had open was IE on this page and Thunderbird, which it crashed in...

I've had enough of this I'm going to format and hopefully that'll fix all the ills, I can't keep going on like this.

Hopefully it's not a hardware error!

Morning

It's an Enermax 850W PSU, Logitech G15 (1st gen) keyboard, Logitech wireless mouse with the dongle and unifying software.

Yep it's self built.

I've got a Black Gold FreeviewHD TV card in there...think that about covers it...everything is running at stock speeds and my temperatures are around:
CPU - 33°C
HDDs - 22°C - 33°C (spot the Western Digital!)
GPU - 42°C

Obviously none of them are under load at the moment.

I have onboard sound outputted via optical...

Think that's everything really!
