Hi Everyone,
Would anyone know/recommend any software to verify integrity of downloaded iso files, ie checksum hash, before & after burning to CD-DVD?
I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff. So any info or recommendations are most welcome.

Thank you!

Thanks for the response everyone.

@ ignatzatsonic, was wondering if you where referring to the MS download or the one referred by Britton30?
I saw a lot of others when I googled. :)

@ Britton30, yes this one looks intriguing as it is stand alone-no install.:D

@ derikimo, the HashCheck shell looks interesting as well.:geek: Open source stuff, kinda like the sounds of that.

Would anyone know if there are any file size limitations to these progs to process say 3-4 GB images?
Also, has anyone heard of or used a prog called HashTab?

Thanks a bunch for your input.
Cheers!

I haven't used hashtab but it looks a lot like the hashcheck I use.

That is a 3.09GB ISO I just scanned in the top screenshot.

Hi derikimo,
Would you have any estimate of how long it took to work the hash? just curious.
Thanks,
Froggy

I use the HashCheck shell extension too, it's a nice a simple option.
On my computer, a 4.7GB DVD image took around 2:30 minutes to compute the checksums, to give an idea (with the file on a SSD which dramatically increases the reading speed). I would expect other programs to have similar times too.

Your awesome for reading this.
Hi Alejandro85,
Thanks for the input. Yes the two shell progs look very similar. I just tried HashTab on a 3.0 GB image on my SSD & it took about 45 secs. So I would think working a hash on my 7200 rpm (500 Mg cache) internal HDD would take about 2:00 mins about like yours. Just a guess. That is plenty fast enough for me. :D

Cheers!

IDK, if anyone had mentioned it; but, there's a neat Online MD5 Hash Generator & SHA1 Hash Generator & thought it might be worth taking a look @
