Very frustrated

On February 20, 2010, Nano Warp posted a reply to hbdr giving instructions on removing Windows games permanently.

I have followed these instructions exactly many times; however when I go to "command prompt", it says gpedit.msc is not recognized. BTW in my command prompt it says Windows 6.1, etc. Is this the problem?

Please can someone tell me how to do this?

I am the only user so I am not concerned with allowing/preventing other users to change this.

gpedit.msc is missing because you are using Windows 7 Home Premium. The home premium versions of Windows do not include the group policy tools. You have to be using either Professional or Ultimate to get access to them.

Unfortunately, gpedit.msc is a feature that is not included in Home Premium. Sorry.

Hello Sophie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can remove (turn off) the games included in Windows 7 by unchecking Games in Windows Features (click on link) and clicking on OK.

It won't remove them permanently, but you can go to programs and features in control panel, click add or remove features, and uncheck the box next to games. I haven't tried it on HP yet, but it should remove Windows games from your start menu and other locations.

Brink and I just told you. As its part of the OS you can't remove it as you would, say, The Sims, but you can make it where you will never see hide nor hair of it again, unless you want to.
