my sound card is an Intel High Definition Audio made by Microsoft. i can't find any drivers on their site - just a doc [here]. and even then the doc doesn't apply to windows 7. all of my levels (including my master level) are turned up to the max. my speakers are correctly set as my default device. the sound for my speakers are on dvd quality. my volume is at the max and i can barely hear it over my desk fan. any help would be great. thanks in advance.

As this is a MAC it may be better to post this on a MAC forum.

You will need a Windows 7 (or at least a Vista) sound driver, if available. If not you may have to do what many of the Windows XP users that upgraded had to do - install a Win 7 compatible sound card. There is a lot of older XP hardware that there is no Vista/Win 7 drivers for and the old XP sound drivers won't work. I do a lot of support on the Dell users forum and there are many posts on there about users having to install new sound cards.

Vista/Win 7 handle some sound functions differently and the reason some XP hardware and drivers will not work. I know, forced obsolesence. In order to take advantage of newer technologies some older hardware falls by the wayside.
