Very often system fails to identify hard disc drive

since last one month i am facing a typical problem. at times system fails to identify while booting. when i change a few wire (sata power cable or data cable ) it boots normally ... and after few successful booting again the problem repeats. my system consists of ... intel DUAL CORE 2.8, ASUS P5G41T- MLX, WDC HDD 1TB, 2 GB RAM, WIN 7 ULTIMATE. please help if any-body can throw some light ...

When you 'change a few wire' what exactly do you mean by that? and what happens when it doesn't work, Does it say anything on the screen at all?
