Very simple answers. :D

1) If you have a retail license (meaning you bought it from a shop), you can use it only on ONE machine at any given time. But you are free to uninstall on one machine, then install on another i.e. the license istransferable. But ONE machine at any given time.

2) There is no way to see how many times. But you can see whether you are activated or not by clicking on control panel->system, then scroll down to see windows activation.

Feel free to ask harder questions. Basically it depends on what type of license you have, which you havent told us specifically.

In that case, when you activate online, the key gets tied to the existing hardware. So on this particular computer you can uninstall and reinstall infinite number of times. If you make hardware changes, depending on how significant they are, the license can get deactivated. By significant I mean change the motherboard alone or change ram, hard drive, optical drive etc. together. When you do that, Microsoft thinks you have installed the same license on an additional machine so deactivates.

If that happens to you because of major hardware change you just need to call them and explain that you only have your copy installed on a single computer and they'll activate for you.

Oops, you edited that post. "Licensed for distribution only with a new PC" is embossed on restore disks. These are disks that come with OEM windows machines and can ONLY be used to reinstall windows on that particular computer.

OK, so things are slightly different in this case.

1) You can use that disk ONLY to reinstall win7 on ONLY this particular machine. Upgrading hardware other than the motherboard will not affect activation.

2) Online activation doesnt apply here, the disk just looks for a bios flag and win7 will auto activate.
