Very slow boot, stalls at starting windows

SFC /scannow didn't find anything.

Also you can use the same directions I outlined and go to the start up tab in msconfig and uncheck the entry's on the start up tab also I would just let the computer try to start without anymore things loading at startup to try to sort out if it's hardware or software causing the issue.

Boot up time seemed alot quicker, only about 1minute. The time time from the first 'Bleep' of the computer to the time i could actually use the internet.

Is the normal? I thought i've read that Windows 7 should take less loading time then previous window versions?

For Windows 7, a top goal is to significantly increase the number of systems that experience very good boot times. In the lab, a very good system is one that boots in under 15 seconds.

Well it depends on hardware of course and like I said what all is loading when Windows starts but 1 minute from power button to internet is not all that bad.

Considering my XP Pro took this long, with a lot more desktop icons and alot more h/d in use.

I guess updating the BIOS would help alot too in the booting up process?

Dual Boot

Plus you said you were dual booting and that adds a little menu time on start up to choose which OS gets loaded or defaults.

No, i'm not dual booting. I only have Win7 on my h/d only.

Ok My Bad

Ok I read your first post again and you mentioned you had a dual boot going on then later said you wiped the drive but never mentioned anymore about it so I assumed you redid everything the same way my bad.

Anyway it sounds like things are much better now one thing I would do is a really good defrag with a program like Perfectdisk which will allow for a boot time defrag of your locked system files which may help improve your boot time even more.
