Try uninstalling the Vaio Control Centre. That should let Windows handle the battery.

I agree- this is bloatware that you really don't need.

You can control power options through Windows as Creepin has mentioned.
If you want to tweak those settings you can click on the power icon in
the system tray/ notification area of the taskbar-> more power options
->choose your power plan as required->Change plan settings->change advanced power settings

In here you can change what your machine does for hibernate on battery and on power etc etc....

If you don't want to fully remove the VAIO Control Center the following link will show
you how to disable the battery care function - I think this what you are after.

Hope this helps- cheers

Could be a problem with the software itself then.

Take note of where the error is occuring and use the
advice they are telling in regard to looking
at the electronic manual for your product. See if there are any troubleshooting
tips and/ or guides on the operation of that software.

Otherwise- as Creepin said you may want to uninstall the software.
As I previously mentioned you can do all sorts of settings for the battery
using Windows itself, however you would be able to uninstall and reinstall
a "fresh" version of your software if you so please.

If that's what you decide to do, then look for the serial/ model numbers and any other
indicators of your particular model and then Google around to find the .exe file
to download and reinstall and the instructions for the safe uninstall and reinstall.

The Sony support site for your country/ region would be
a very good place to start and I would recommend getting the .exe file from there
and NOT a third party.

Good luck

Note: Do not install the software from the following link as it is a Vista download, I
have only provided this link AS AN EXAMPLE of the sort of informational page you will need to search for!!!!!
