Hi,

I have a very strange problem. It happened just without any reason. When I try to open folder every time I open this in the new window. It's very annoying. I checked what setup is in "Folder options," and I have "Open each folder in the same window" but when I try to open every each time I open separate window.
I tried "Restore Defaults" button, but it didn't help.
Please give me some solution for this problem.

Have you made this change in Control Panel>Folder options or just the folder in question?

OP says he has tried that Greg but tbh I can see why you suggested that as that was my initial thought.

Right, Mangoh. I was trying to remember if changing it in the Folder Options on the folder Organize tab will change it across the board.

If not then your suggestion to test System Files is spot on as there may be explorer corruption.

Forgot that you can change the folders options via control panel :o

On my PC, I'm positive that it is the same as the Control Panel link.

I set all of my templates/views from the folder I'm currently in, not the Control Panel.
After I disabled "Auto-Discovery", the settings have always worked as expected.

Hi,

I did (or checked) everything what Mangoh said, and it didn't help at all. Everything is set up like supposed to be but still when I open a folder, I open it in a separate window.

Okay please try what Greg said and if... that doesn't work I'd consider a repair install myself unless someone can recommend something better.

Confirm you are saving the choice by clicking OK in the Folder Options box.

If so, did SFC /SCANNOW Command find any system corruption?

Install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

If you have no infection then try System Restore .

Where did you get Win7? How is it activated?

If the SFC scan found no corruption, and the malware scan found nothing, one thing you could try before going for the repair install is to set it for "Open in own window", select OK, then toggle back to "Open in same window", select OK.

Might want to open a couple folders before toggling back to the way you want it. Give it a shot just to see.
